Pune, October 5 (IANS) Women Empowerment and Security discussed NCW President Vijaya Rahatkar during a two-journey of Pune and Nashik during a two-yatra, as they called for developing a culture of gender equality in homes, an official said on Sunday.
At the University of Savitribai Phule Pune, the National Commission for Women’s (NCW) Chairperson led the discussion on “Women’s Rights Conference of Nominee and Dismissed Tribes”.
The incident of the Department of Geology focused on addressing issues related to women from marginalized and weak tribal population.
On Saturday, a former mayor of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Rahatkar asked to develop a culture of gender equality in homes and did not consider it a concept that should be limited to schools, colleges or offices.
Speaking at a conference on challenges in women’s empowerment in Nashik, she called for better awareness between the district-level local committees (LC) set up to address sexual harassment complaints and promised that NCW would work hard in the field.
NCW Chairperson said that LCS still has a long way to go, which has to move forward to protect the rights of women working in the unorganized sector.
Reliefkar described women as a similar partner in nation-building and focused on their health, nutrition and education.
He shared details about an NCW program for education and nutrition of girls from pre-primary levels.
In a post on X, Rahatkar said, “Inaugurated the International Conference on the highly relevant topic of women in the contemporary world: NB Thakur Law College of Gokhale Education Society, Challenges and Solutions organized by #Nashik”.
“Women empowerment is not just a question of any one class; it is the foundation for the progress of our society and nation. Only when women will be safe, educated and economically independent, society, society and country become stronger,” she said.
“By integrating health and nutrition, employment and workplace safety, digital empowerment, political participation, education and legal awareness, social security for unorganized sector, we can achieve the real goal of women empowerment.
