wolves Owner Victor Perera He has been fined £15,000 after losing his composure and booting an extra match ball into the dugout during a 1–1 draw with. brighton earlier this month.
The Portuguese coach was shown a red card for a bizarre incident around the 19th minute, when he threw the ball into the match manager’s dugout in frustration at his team not being awarded a clear free kick.
football Association (FA) said that the match manager had to take evasive action when the ball hit the Sky Sports floor manager, prompting Perera to rush over and apologize not once, but twice.
“It was alleged that the manager acted inappropriately around the 19th minute, leading to his dismissal and he later admitted the charge,” the FA said in a statement on Friday.
Assistant manager Luis Miguel later apologized on Pereira’s behalf, saying: “The ball was there, he kicked the ball, sometimes you kick a water bottle or something. We lost our minds. I’m sorry.”
Pereira eventually issued a public apology at his next press conference about two weeks later.
“I know football is emotional and I’m an emotional person,” he said. “But my behavior was inappropriate. I kicked a ball and it can’t happen again. I’m sorry.”
