Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton are making headlines over their potential video appearance at the BAFTA TV Awards.

According to a new report, the Prince and Princess of Wales will not be attending this Sunday’s awards ceremony because Princess Kate is undergoing preventive chemotherapy following a cancer diagnosis.

The future King William, who has been president of the film and TV organization since 2010, will instead record a video message that will be played during the ceremony, for which nominees include the four cast members of The Crown.

There is speculation that Princess Kate may also make a rare appearance via Zoom.

William attended the BAFTA Film Awards alone in February as his wife was recovering from illness, and we’re told it’s not unusual for the pair to attend only one of the two major BAFTA awards ceremonies in a calendar year.

William has been attending a few events recently but Middleton is currently recovering from cancer and undergoing chemotherapy.

He revealed the news through a video message about six weeks ago, saying that doctors had discovered the cancer during testing after an operation.

This year’s TV awards will take place at London’s Royal Festival Hall on Sunday, with the cast playing Princess Diana, Prince Charles, Princess Margaret and Mohammed al-Fayed in the Netflix royal saga. Crown,

The royal drama was also nominated for four gongs at the Bafta TV Craft Awards late last month, but failed to win any. Other shows to receive multiple nominations include Netflix’s Black Mirror and Top Boy, as well as the finale season of BBC One’s Happy Valley.
