Prince Harry has paid an emotional tribute to King Charles despite the monarch’s decision not to meet the duke during his highly anticipated visit to the UK.

Harry appeared to be in high spirits as he headed to St Paul’s Cathedral tonight, decked out in his KCVO noble order and star.

The Duke of Sussex is in London to attend a special celebration of the Invictus Games, and although the royal family decided to cancel the event, Harry honored his time at the firm with a special tribute.

The KCVO noble order and star worn by Harry is awarded for service to the monarchy.

The medal is awarded as part of the Royal Victorian Order – a monarchical order of knighthood. Harry was knighted by his grandmother, the Queen, in 2015 for his service to the monarchy. He was created a Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (KCVO) in private at Buckingham Palace.

As well as the KCVO Neck Order and Star, Harry holds the Afghanistan Service Medal and a Golden, Diamond and Platinum Jubilee Medal.

He wore his Afghanistan Service Medal and Jubilee Medal while delivering an emotional video message from his Montecito home for the Military Times Service Members of the Year Awards in April. However, at that time he did not wear the KCVO Neck Order and Star

Harry decided to wear the medal tonight after it was announced that King Charles would be too busy to meet his son while he is in Britain.

In a statement, Harry’s spokesperson said: “In response to the many inquiries and continued speculation over whether the Duke will meet his father while he is in the UK this week, unfortunately due to Her Majesty’s full schedule this will not be possible.

“The Duke is certainly understanding of his father’s diary commitments and various other priorities and looks forward to meeting him soon.”
