'Will not celebrate Holi': AAP continues protest against Arvind Kejriwal arrest

New Delhi:

As the entire country basks in the colors of Holi celebrations, Aam Aadmi Party leaders continue to protest against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest in Delhi GST policy case linked to money laundering case catch.

Delhi Minister and AAP leader Atish on Monday said they are determined not to play with colors and celebrate Holi this year and appealed to the nation to join them in fighting cruelty and evil.

“Holi is not just a festival but a symbol of the victory of good over evil, of justice over cruelty. Today, every leader of the Aam Aadmi Party is fighting against this evil, cruelty and injustice day and night. This year, Aam Aadmi Party Aadmi Party has decided that we will not play with colors and we will not celebrate Holi,” the AAP leader posted on X.

Atish launched a veiled attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of erasing democracy in the country “as the brutal dictator has thrown in the beloved Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal Prisons. Today, they are leaving no stone unturned in their efforts to eliminate democracy.” “Democracy from this country. On this Holi, I make an appeal to all of you; join us in this fight against cruelty and evil. This is not just for AAP And the fight is also a fight to save democracy for the whole of Delhi and the whole country.”

Earlier on Sunday, Atishi announced that the India Group would organize a rally on March 31 to oppose the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal by the Enforcement Directorate.

Kejriwal was arrested on March 21 and was remanded to March 28 by the Rouse Avenue Court on Friday in a money laundering case related to the alleged liquor policy scam.

Speaking to ANI, AAP Minister Atishi said, “The Union of India will organize a ‘Mahar Rally’ at Ramlila Maidan on March 31. This rally is not being organized to save Arvind Kejriwal but to save democracy. Leader of the Opposition People are targeted, they’re put in jail. The current chief minister was jailed after the election was announced. The chief minister is in jail and the opposition party’s bank accounts are frozen,” she said.

“The Indian Constitution, which guarantees democracy, is in danger today. We are organizing a rally to save democracy,” Atish said.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge called Kejriwal’s arrest “a step to weaken the opposition ahead of the Lok Sabha elections”.

“The arrogant Bharatiya Janata Party lies about victory every day and tries to weaken the opposition through all means and illegal means before the elections. If there is real confidence in victory, the accounts of the main opposition Congress party will not be compromised due to abuse of constitutional machinery. Frozen; opposition leaders will not be targeted before the election,” Hager posted on his X account.
