Mayank Yadav was an unknown figure in world cricket until he made his debut in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) against Kings XI Punjab on Saturday. The Delg-born pacer announced his presence in IPL 2024 with a brilliant display of pace bowling, with the youngster bowling the fastest ball of the tournament this year. Mayank seemed unfazed as his pace of 155.8 kmph left Shikhar Dhawan in trouble during Saturday’s match against Kings XI Punjab (PBKS) in Lucknow. The 21-year-old ended up taking three crucial wickets as Lucknow Super Giants registered their first win of IPL 2024.

Now, Mayank’s coach Devinder Sharma has claimed that the pacer is being considered for a place in the Indian Test squad for the recently concluded Test series against England.

Speaking to RevSportz, Devender said chief selector Ajit Agarkar wanted to see Mayank’s bowl before selecting him. However, he was sidelined due to injury at the time.

“He was devastated and almost broke down. Who wants to give up the chance to impress the selectors and play for India? I pray to God that he keeps improving and stays healthy. He is a very good, physically strong guy kid. “He’s got an athletic body,” Devender told RevSportz. He is very hardworking and capable of serving India for a long time. He has a good mind, which is the most important thing. “

Devender, who runs the famous Sonnets Club, also revealed that Rishabh Pant and Sourav Ganguly want Mayank to join Delhi Capitals. He also added that Gujarat Titans superstar Ashish Nehra is also interested in the pacer.

For the uninitiated, Mayank was acquired by LSG for Rs 20 lakh ahead of IPL 2022. However, he did not play a game that season.

The following season, he missed time due to injury.

Mayank came into the limelight for the first time during the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021. On his tournament debut, he bowled a maiden delivery in the 49th over to help Delhi defend 12 balls in the last 12 overs against Haryana.
