Tamil film producer Jaffer Sadiq has been arrested for allegedly smuggling drugs worth crores of rupees in a drug network. A week ago, he seized Rs 180 crore worth of methamphetamine from two railway passengers and a garbage dump in Tamil Nadu. The drugs were to be smuggled into Sri Lanka.

1. The Narcotics Control Bureau described Jaffer Sadiq as the “mastermind and leader” of a drug syndicate that spread between India, Australia and New Zealand. He was accused of smuggling drugs worth Rs 2,000 crore out of the country.
2. He entered politics in 2010 and is the deputy organizer of the NRI faction of the DMK in Chennai West.
3. Sadiq was expelled from the DMK last month for his alleged involvement in drug smuggling. BJP state president K Annamalai recently shared his photos with several politicians, including Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and State Minister Udayanidhi Stalin.
4. In his social media profile, he claims to have founded the JSM Group of Companies. He was involved in the real estate industry in his early years.
