The Chief Election Commissioner today announced the dates for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Elections to all states and Union Territories will be held in seven phases starting from April 19.
While a total of 22 states and union territories will vote on one polling day, three states will vote in all seven phases. States with the most polling dates include Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal.
Almost all Union Territories will go to polls in one phase, except Jammu and Kashmir, which will vote on five polling days.
Here are the details of the states in which UT will go to polls in several phases:
States and Union Territories with one polling date (22):
Arunachal Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar Island, Andhra Pradesh, Chandigarh, Delhi, Goa, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Kerala, Lakshadweep Islands, Ladakh, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Puducherry, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Telangana, Uttarakhand and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.
States and Union Territories with two polling dates (4):
Karnataka, Rajasthan, Tripura, Manipur
States and Union Territories with three polling dates (2):
assam chhattisgarh
States and Union Territories with four polling dates (3):
Orissa, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand
States and Union Territories with five polling dates (2):
Maharashtra, Jammu and Kashmir

The first phase of voting will be held on April 19, the second phase of voting will be held on April 26, the third phase of voting will be held on May 7, the fourth phase of voting will be held on May 13, and the fifth phase of voting will be held on May 13. The first phase of voting will be held on May 13, the sixth phase of voting will be held on May 25, and the seventh phase of voting will be held on May 25. June 1st.
