J&K People’s President and MLA Handwada Sajad Loan has raised serious concerns about increasing the cost of electricity and the government’s promised free power scheme warns that consumers can pay more despite the assurance of relief.
Loan said, “Electrical bills have increased,” Lone said, making two important predictions about the 200-units free power promise for the economically disadvantaged by the ruling party.
Addressing the poorest sections, who are waiting for relief, the Estute MLA said, “For the poorest who are waiting for the free power of 200 units … I don’t know whether you will eventually get free power or not.
More importantly, the loan gave a warning about the financial implications of the free power scheme.
He announced, “In the event of you to get a free power to 200 units, the net payment that you make to the Electricity Department will be more than the time being paid by you,” he announced.
This claim challenges the fundamental basis of the government’s relief package that it suggests that despite receiving free power units, consumers will increase overall costs.
