Rajya Sabha MP and Shiv Sena (Shindhi) leader Milind Deora welcomed the BJP’s election manifesto, specifically mentioning the promise of construction of Rs 30-crore houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), saying This has special significance for Mumbai.

“The BJP’s manifesto is very good. What they say is what they deliver. I welcome it,” Mr Deora, who recently joined the Shiv Sena (Shindhi faction) in quitting the Congress, told news agency ANI.

“Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), 40 million families got permanent housing. Now their plan is that in the next five years, they will provide permanent housing to 30 million more families. This is a very good plan. I want to see this plan implemented in Mumbai and Maharashtra, it is the dream of Mumbaikars,” he added.

The Bharatiya Janata Party’s ‘Sankalp Patra’ was inaugurated at the party’s New Delhi headquarters on Sunday in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, state president JP Nadda, other senior leaders and senior union ministers.

The manifesto, with the slogan “Modi Assurance”, focuses on more development, women’s welfare and a “Viksit Bharat” (developed India) road map.

According to the BJP, 2025 will be declared as the ‘Year of Janjatiya Gaurav’.

The BJP’s election manifesto promised “one nation, one election” and a “single electoral roll”.

The manifesto released by the BJP also aims to promote more Lakhpati Didis. It has pledged with Prime Minister Surya Ghar Yojana to reduce electricity bills to zero.

In addition, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s manifesto also includes commitments such as India’s bid to host the 2036 Olympics, implementation of national education policies, and the formulation of an anti-document leakage law.

Among its election promises, the party also aimed to make the country the world’s third-largest economy. The manifesto sets the goal of making India a “global manufacturing hub”.

The declaration was witnessed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and party president JP Nadda Revealed.

Addressing the event, JP Nadda said that the achievements achieved by the government in the past 10 years, such as the abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution and the Women’s Reservation Act, were made possible due to the clear mandate given to the party by the people.

“The achievements of the past decade are the result of a clear mandate,” Nadda said at an event to launch the BJP manifesto for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

The BJP appointed a manifesto committee headed by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, which held two meetings to review its contents after the party launched several exercises, including after issuing ” Sankalp Patra” previously launched a massive campaign across the country to solicit people’s suggestions.

The BJP received over 1.5 million suggestions for its manifesto, of which over 400,000 were through the NaMo app and over 1.1 million through videos.

The Lok Sabha polls in India are scheduled to be held from April 19, 2024 to June 1, 2024, to elect 543 representatives of the 18th Lok Sabha. These elections will be held in seven phases and the results will be announced on June 4.

About 970 million people out of a total population of 1.44 billion are eligible to participate in the elections. Legislative assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha and Sikkim will be held simultaneously with the general elections. In addition, by-elections will be held for 35 seats in 16 states.
