When this was formed, this Jewish attracts soldiers and weapons from paramilitary – Hagna, Irgun and Stern Gang – which in 1948 call Israel the “War of Freedom”.

Palestinians referred to it as “Nakba” – Arabic for destruction – since hundreds of thousands of people moved to refugee camps from their homes.

The soldiers of Britain’s “Palestine Regiment” who fought in World War II against Axis powers were also inducted into the Israeli army.

According to recent data, Israel’s Navy has about six submarines, eight missile boats and 38 patrol boats.

The Israeli Air Force has hundreds of aircraft which include dozens of F -35 fighter jets, which are often used for air attacks.

In most parts of the Middle East, the Israeli army is referred to as the “Israeli business force” or “IOF” due to the illegal occupation of Israel to the West Bank.

Why is IDF controversial?

Although it claims to be the “most moral army in the world”, the Israeli army has been accused of negligent and ratio -less conduct.

Recently, there have been several incidents at aid sites in Gaza, aimed at providing food to the Palestinians to stay hungry. According to the Gaza government’s media office, more than 500 Palestinians have been killed and more than 4,000 have been injured, waiting for food on the sites run by Israel and US-supported Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF).

On Friday, the Israeli newspaper Hretz reported the claims of the soldiers that they were asked to deliberately shoot at the Palestinians at the aid distribution centers. One described the aid distribution as a “murder area” and said that the commanders ordered the soldiers to set fire to the Palestinians as a way of “communication”.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katj dismissed the claims, which he called a “blood complaint”.

The army told the Reuters that the IDF had not instructed the soldiers to deliberately shoot on the citizens. It states that it wanted to improve the “operating response” in the aid areas and recently established a new fence and signal, and open additional routes to reach the handout areas.

In another incident in March this year, 15 Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCs) paramedics and emergency workers were killed by Israeli soldiers near Rafa.

The Israeli army originally claimed that the soldiers set fire as the convoy approached “suspects” in the dark without headlights or flashing lights.

But later stated that it accidentally recognized paramedics as a threat and the incident was under the “entire investigation”.

And in April 2024, seven support workers along with the World Central Kitchen died in the Israeli air strike after giving food to Palestinians in Central Gaza. Former British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said that “a lot of support workers and ordinary citizens have lost their lives in Gaza after the attack”.

An Israeli soldier told Haretz The strike took place because “every commander determines the rules for himself.”

The Israeli army said it attacked the convoy as the authorities believed that Hamas was traveling with an armed member group.

Israel says that the citizen takes care to avoid casualties.
