Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday met the family of former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupni, who was among the 241 passengers, who lost their lives in the Ahmedabad plane crash.

Paying tribute to the BJP leader, PM Modi said that the former CM was a humble and hardworking person and was strongly committed to the party’s ideology.

“Mr. Vijaybhai met the family of Rupni ji. It is unimaginable that Vijaybhai is not among us. I have known him for decades. We worked together, shoulder to shoulder, which included some during the most challenging time.

He said, “Increasing the ranks, he handled various responsibilities in the organization and served as the Chief Minister of Gujarat,” he said.

PM Modi further praised the contribution of Gujarat CM, which he had held over the years.

“In every role, he distinguished himself, in the Rajkot Municipal Corporation, as a Rajya Sabha MP, as a BJP president of Gujarat and a cabinet minister in the state government,” PM Modi said.

“Vijaybhai and I also worked on a large scale when he was a Gujarat semi. He started several measures that extended the trajectory of Gujarat’s development, especially ‘to increase the ease of living’. Always cherish the conversation we have.

Vijay Rupani died in an Air India -171 flight, crashed in Ahmedabad on Thursday. Anjali Rupani, wife of late Vijay Rupani, reached Ahmedabad on Friday.
