An image published by Icelandic daily Morgunbladid showed bright orange lava gushes from cracks in the ground.
The last eruption started on January 14 and lasted for about two days, with lava flows reaching the outskirts of the fishing town of Grindavik, where nearly 4,000 residents have been evacuated and some houses set alight.
