At a recent hearing they both admitted conspiring to rob and cause an explosion likely to endanger property and life. Judge Alan Conran KC said the “planned and well-organized” robbery was the first of its kind and the “disturbing” strategy of using improvised explosive devices was described as a “new modus operandi” .
Detective Sergeant Rich McCorry, of GMP’s serious and organized crime team, said after the incident: “These are people who are looking to make quick money without regard for the safety of the public. He added: “Following careful investigation with expert colleagues from Greater Manchester and Staffordshire Police we were able to link these crimes and now two dangerous, reckless men have been jailed for lengthy periods.”
