Vivo confirms that Vivo X Fold 3 series and Vivo X100 series support 5.5G connection

Vivo is gearing up to launch the 5.5G (5G-Advanced or 5GA) upgrade for its flagship smartphone via OTA (over-the-air) update soon. The newly launched Vivo X Fold 3, Vivo X Fold 3 Pro and Vivo X100 series have been confirmed to receive 5.5G connectivity first along with a few iQoo smartphones. A few days ago, China Mobile announced the commercial launch of its 5.5G network. The new generation of wireless technology brings upgrades to existing 5G networks and ensures faster download speeds. Oppo’s flagship Find X7 series is believed to be the first device to support 5.5G networks.

Chinese smartphone brands pass Weibo revealed that the Vivo X Fold 3, Vivo X Fold 3 Pro and Vivo X100 series will get 5.5G connectivity through OTA updates later this month. The iQoo 12 series and iQoo Neo 9 series of Vivo sub-brand iQoo will also be among the first devices to receive 5.5G support.

In addition, Vivo product manager Han Boxiao release An image of the Vivo X100 Pro running China Mobile’s 5.5G network on China’s Weibo platform. The graph shows download speeds of 3619.19Mbps and upload speeds of 160.75Mbps. 5.5G is said to offer downlink speeds of up to 10Gbps and uplink speeds of 1Gbps.

China Mobile announced the commercial launch of 5.5G last week. Later, OPPO revealed plans to introduce 5.5G to its Find X7 series of smartphones. 5.5G networks offer higher data speeds than current 5G networks.

Xiaomi Mi 14 Ultra will also get 5.5G capabilities in China. China Mobile’s goal is to cover more than 300 cities including Beijing and Shanghai with its 5.5G network by the end of this year.
