Virat Kohli scored a record eight in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Saturday but Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of Rajasthan Royals (RR). Kohli scored his IPL career-high 113 not out but Jos Buttler’s quick 100 helped RR beat RCB, who suffered their fourth defeat in five games . Chasing 184 runs to win, RR lost Yashasvi Jaiswal in the second innings against RCB in Jaipur after Reece Topley batted early.

After some brilliant bowling in the first five overs of the powerplay, Buttler got RR back in the hunt by hitting Mayank Dagar for 20-plus in the final over.

He and Sanju Samson put on 148 runs for the second wicket and the RR captain scored 69 runs. A helpless Kohli covered his face in frustration as RR won comfortably.

Buttler completed his century with 6 runs while RR needed just one run from five balls.

Looking back at the RCB match, Kohli posted his third 50-over score of the season as he posted 125 in the opening match, with captain Faf du Plessis adding 44 to the total Foundation.

Kohli completed his half-century by knocking Riyan Parag for six off 39 balls.

Du Plessis was dropped by Yuzvendra Chahal while catching a long-on shot. Berg soon threw a pitch to Glenn Maxwell to stop the surge.

Kohli fought back with determination, finishing with 12 fours, including three in the final over, and four sixes in his 72-ball knock.

The former India captain has cemented his place in the batting charts this year with 316 runs in 5 games.

Kohli is still waiting for his first IPL title in Bengaluru.
