Ottawa- External Affairs Minister Anita Anand is leaving for Japan and Malaysia as the Carni government shapes its diplomatic and business approach to the Indo-Pacific sector.
Anand will meet with his Japanese counterpart in Tokyo this week as the two finalize an agreement on sharing defense information and promoting business.
On Thursday and Friday, Anand will attend a meeting with Southeast Asian countries or ASEAN association in Malaysia.
Canada is looking to sign a business deal with ASEAN block this year, and entered a strategic partnership with the block in 2023, which is expected to lead the business expansion, educational exchange and leading projects to combat biological threats.
Anand’s visit comes beyond the Summit of the ASEAN leader of this decline in Malaysia, which Prime Minister Mark Carney says that he will participate.
Carney has focused on defense, security and trade relations with European countries in its first months in a large -scale office, although he signed a deal with Australia for an Arctic radar system.
