Police officer Poonam Mishra said: “An Ertiga car carrying 11 children from Amroha to Delhi collided with a dump truck. In the chaos, local residents killed 11 The children and the driver were taken to a local hospital.”

The truck came to a standstill as it ran out of gasoline, police said, adding that the driver of the truck, Saddam Hussein, had been arrested.

The injured children, all aged between 10 and 12 years, were to appear for Class 6 examinations in Jamia, Delhi.

The dead included driver Anas and children Unesh and Azam.
