Video: Haryana police use road roller to destroy 50 modified bicycle silencers

Kaital, Haryana:

The traffic police in Haryana’s Kaital today seized more than fifty modified mufflers installed on Bullet motorcycles and crushed them with a road roller. A video shows a modified silencer being destroyed by a road roller in the presence of police at Pehowa Chowk in Kaital.

Police said they took action after receiving complaints that the modified silencers were causing a nuisance on the street and disrupting locals.

“We have received information that some miscreants often roam the streets with modified bicycle silencers and create pataka sounds. Today we destroyed nearly 50 silencers,” Station Officer (Traffic) Ramesh Kumar told NDTV.

“We have been directed to take strict action against those using modified silencers to create nuisance and violate norms. We have deployed police personnel at various checkpoints to stop such activities on the occasion of Holi activities,” the official said, adding that such nonsense will not be tolerated

Police have previously issued warnings to people who modify motorcycle mufflers in an effort to curb the practice. But as complaints continued to mount, police decided to take action because the loud sounds were causing difficulties for heart patients and pregnant women.
