By | Published | No Comments

Currently, Guangdong Province in southern China is experiencing severe flooding due to heavy rains and high water levels in major rivers such as the Xijiang and Beijiang basins.

Local weather officials described the situation as “severe”, with parts of the rivers reaching water levels, which has only a one in 50 chance of happening in any given year.

The floods have caused the evacuation of more than 45,000 people in Qingyuan City, affecting 1.16 million households across the province, causing power outages and traffic disruptions.

This is the second major flood to hit Guangdong this month, after thunderstorms hit southern Guangzhou two weeks ago.
