Vehicle plunges into 300-foot-deep ravine on J&K highway, killing 10

The bus fell into a ravine on the Srinagar-Jammu highway.

Srinagar:

Ten people were killed when a passenger bus fell into a ravine on the Srinagar-Jammu highway.

Officials said the accident occurred around 1:30 in the night when the vehicle fell into a 300-foot-deep ravine at a place called Battery Cheshma in Ramban district.

The victims were migrant workers on their way to Srinagar.

Amid heavy rains, state disaster managers and police launched rescue operations to recover the bodies.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed condolences for the victims and said all assistance would be provided to the families of the victims.

“I am deeply shocked to learn that an unfortunate traffic accident occurred in Ramban, resulting in the loss of precious lives. I express my heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased. I have issued instructions to the district administration and command to provide all assistance in accordance with the rules to the victims relatives,” Mr Sinha said on X.
