Uttar Pradesh government officials attacked, robbed on Delhi-bound Shatabdi Express

An assistant public prosecutor in Uttar Pradesh was allegedly attacked and robbed on board a Shatabdi Express train bound for New Delhi, officials said on Monday.

The incident took place on March 28 at around 10 pm on Swarn Shatabdi Express, Lucknow Jn. According to the FIR, the Swarn Shatabdi Express was about 50 to 100 meters away from Shivaji Bridge railway station in New Delhi.

In her complaint to the police, Swati Mourya said: “I was sitting in seat number 2 of my C-4 coach when a man entered the coach and tried to snatch my handbag.”

“When I resisted, he pushed and attacked me, causing injury to my left hand. He then snatched my bag and jumped from the moving train. I could identify this man,” she added .

According to the FIR, Swati Mourya lost Rs 15,000, various identity cards issued by the Uttar Pradesh government – PAN, Aadhar, driving license and prosecutor’s ID card, as well as two ATM cards, a mobile phone, four diamond rings, two gold. Bracelet and two watches at the event.

The New Delhi Government Railway Police received a complaint regarding the incident at 11.20 pm, police said.

“We have registered an FIR under IPC sections 356 (assault or criminal violence with attempt to steal property carried by others) and 380 (theft in dwelling house, etc.). The accused will be arrested soon,” the senior police officer said.
