India and China are often seen as rivals, with both competing for strategic dominance in the realms of trade, development, and investment. Recently, Patrick Bet David, an American author and entrepreneur, drew a comparison between India and China, focusing on both the nations’ foreign and development policies. He asserted that ”India is not afraid of China” and also hailed India for standing up to its Asian neighbour. A short clip of the US author’s podcast has gone viral after industrialist Harsh Goenka shared it on X.

In the video, Mr David says, ”iPhones are now being made in India. First time not been made in China. It says, ‘made in India’. Guess who blocked TikTok in their country – India. Who blocked 100 apps in China? India.”

Mr. Goebka simply captioned the video as, ”India vs China”

Mr. David further praised India saying how the country learned from China’s mistakes and noted the latter’s policy failures like the ‘one-child policy’ and ‘overexpansion.’

”But India has also seen the mistakes China made with the one-child rule and over-expansion. The average age of a Chinese right now is 38.4 years old. India is 27/28. India’s IIT Institute is producing incredible engineers. Many companies here will hire Indian engineers and they are rockstars. Better than MIT in many cases. So, I think India is very important for the next 20, 30, 40 years. As long as India is there, China’s going to hate it, they’re not going to like it,” he said.

The video has sparked debate online, with the video receiving varied responses.

One user wrote, ”India is the future of this planet. Without India world has no existence. Our holistic legacy is remarkable, none can match it. Our youth power has tremendous potential, if utilised brilliantly then nothing is impossible for us. Hope India will emerge unique as always.”

A second said, ”India has great potential, even China knows that we need to improve our manufacturing and transport facilities like fast approvals and increase freight speed.”

A third added, ”Thank you Harsh ji for this small but very powerful video. Bharat mata ki jai.”

However, a fourth reasoned saying, ”So American Corporate Greed is now India’s counter policy against China? If India has IITs, then China also has Tsinghua and Peking. Think about it.”
