The U.S. military said late Monday it destroyed a missile system belonging to Yemen’s Houthi rebels and a drone launched by the militants over the Red Sea.

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said the first strike hit two Houthi armed missiles ready for launch and a ground control station.

No injuries or damage to boats in the area were reported.

Central Command also said it launched an anti-ship ballistic missile on Sunday in the direction of the M/V Hope Island, a Marshall Islands-flagged, British-owned, Italian-operated cargo ship that was being escorted by a coalition ship in the Gulf of Aden.

No injuries or property damage were reported in the incident.

Britain’s maritime trading agency said it received reports on Sunday that a missile had fallen into waters near a ship in the same area.

The Houthis have launched numerous attacks on shipping in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden in what they say is an effort to express solidarity with the Palestinians in Israel’s war with Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

The attacks have forced many commercial shipping lines to reroute and avoid the region in favor of longer, more expensive routes around Africa.
