UP man stabs wife multiple times after lunch not served on time: Police

Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh:

A 30-year-old man in UP’s Sitapur killed his wife with a sharp weapon following an argument over delay in serving lunch to him. He later hanged himself at his home in the area, police said.

Thangaon police station SHO Hanumant Lal Tiwari said the woman was identified as 28-year-old Prema Devi and her husband Parasram.

The enraged husband first attacked and killed his wife with a sharp weapon and then hanged himself inside the house fearing he would be jailed, the police officer told PTI.

According to police, Parasram returned home after working in the fields on Monday afternoon and asked his wife for food. Police said lunch was not ready when Parasram returned home.

Police said the husband was angry because he had not been able to get the food, and the couple had an argument that led him to attack his wife multiple times with a sharp weapon and kill her.

Villagers said that after the incident, the defendant’s husband locked himself in the room and hanged himself.

The body has been sent for autopsy, police said.
