UP man shot dead by brother-in-law over love marriage: Police

Binol (UP):

A man allegedly shot dead his 26-year-old brother-in-law for marrying his sister regardless of caste differences, police said on Saturday.

The victim Brajesh is a native of Mirpur Kadar village under the jurisdiction of Chandpur police station.

Superintendent of Police Neeraj Kumar Jadaun said Brajesh, who belongs to a scheduled caste, married Divya, a Seni, a year ago and their family relations had been strained.

Divya’s brother Rafsit, accompanied by several accomplices, shot Brajesh twice at the village market on Friday night.

A case has been registered against seven people in this connection and Rafsit has been arrested.

The search for the remaining accused is on, the SP said.
