Two bogies of Kannur-Alappuzha Executive Express derail, train delayed

Two bogies of the Kannur-Alappuzha Executive Express derailed near Kannur railway station during shunting process on Saturday morning, delaying the departure of the train by an hour, railway sources here said.

The incident occurred at 4.40 am when the train was being brought to the platform with no passengers.

The rearmost two bogies derailed, damaging the signal box. Fortunately, since the incident occurred on a track parallel to the main track, other train services remained unaffected, he said.

After separating the derailed coaches, the train’s journey proceeded. Railway officials are currently investigating to find out the cause of the derailment.
