Trump reiterates 'Holocaust' claim in immigration speech

Trump said American communities face “plunder, rape and massacre” by illegal immigrants.

Washington:

Donald Trump issued a scathing warning of impending “carnage” in the United States on Tuesday, telling supporters that American communities faced “plunder, rape and massacre” by illegal immigrants.

In some of his most incendiary remarks yet about border security, Trump accused President Joe Biden of waging “carnage, chaos and killing” in a country overrun by drugs and besieged by foreign criminal gangs.

“I stand before you today to declare that Joe Biden’s massacre at the border … is a massacre and it is destroying our country and it is a very bad thing,” he said in Michigan said in an apocalyptic campaign speech in Grand Rapids.

“This will all end the day I take office.”

The former president, who faces a rematch with Biden in the November election, spoke as the Republican National Committee launched BidenBloodbath.com, which warns of an “invasion aided and abetted by Joe Biden.”

Speaking in Ohio earlier this month about the potential loss of auto manufacturing jobs to foreign countries, Trump said that if he was not re-elected, “it would be a bloodbath in this country.”

The Biden campaign and Democrats accused him of inciting “political violence,” prompting angry responses from Trump aides who said it was clear the tycoon was using the term to describe economic destruction.

Trump has often been criticized for using extreme language that experts worry increases the risk of violence, both in social media posts about his multiple indictments and at rallies.

– Violent crime down –

During his fire-and-brimstone speech in Michigan, he referred to illegal immigrants accused of crimes as “animals” and highlighted the killings of several young women allegedly by foreigners.

“Under Crooked Joe Biden, every state is now a border state. Every town is now a border town,” Trump snarled.

“Because Joe Biden is bringing carnage, chaos and killing from around the world and dumping it right into our backyard.”

He vowed to stop the “plundering, rape, massacre and destruction of our American suburbs, our towns.”

While illegal border crossings hit record highs during Biden’s presidency, violent crime has been declining in Michigan and nationwide since the 2020 outbreak under Trump during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The billionaire’s speech was aimed at launching his campaign with back-to-back rallies in Michigan and Wisconsin, two battleground states crucial to his victory over Biden.

The Republican, who faces more than 80 felony charges, has been in court for much of the campaign, holding just one rally between his rematch with Biden nearly three weeks ago and Tuesday’s event.

In an incendiary campaign, Trump accused immigrants of “poisoning the nation’s blood,” fueling accusations that he emulated Nazi language and vowed to “root out communists, Marxists, and Marxists who live like vermin.” activists, fascists and radical left thugs.” ” In the U.S.

The Democratic National Committee has accused Trump of hypocrisy on immigration, noting that he pressured congressional Republicans to veto a recent bipartisan deal that would have ensured the toughest border security in a generation.

– Swinging state –

Tuesday’s first speech was something of a homecoming for Trump, who capped off a successful 2016 campaign in Grand Rapids by winning Michigan and thereby receiving the keys to the White House.

Biden swung the state back Democratic in 2020, but with polls now showing Trump ahead, the election is likely to be close.

Tensions are also expected in neighboring Wisconsin, where Trump is due to start his second rally at 6:00 pm (2200 GMT).

Biden has been on a blitz through swing states in recent weeks, visiting Wisconsin and Michigan, as well as Arizona, Nevada, North Carolina and Pennsylvania.

He leads his Republican rivals in fundraising, even as Trump burns through cash on legal fees fighting multiple criminal and civil court cases.

Trump confirmed in Michigan that he has posted a $175 million bail in a New York civil fraud case, suspending collection of more than $500 million in damages and interest awarded against him and blocking the state’s appeal while it appeals Seize his assets.
