Kolkata, October 25 (IANS) Trinamool Congress has called a meeting of its disciplinary committee next week to crack down on rebel leaders who have made public statements against the party leadership. Trinamool Congress sources said on Saturday that party leader Humayun Kabir and his controversial comments against the party will be discussed in the meeting.
Before the meeting, members of the disciplinary committee will discuss with Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee. It is learned that senior party leader Sovandev Chattopadhyay is already in touch with the members on behalf of the committee. The meeting will be held next week but the date has not been decided yet.
Over the past few days, the Trinamool Congress MLA from Bharatpur in Murshidabad district has been practically naming and shaming everyone from Murshidabad district president Apurba Sarkar to presidents of party organisations.
He has warned that people holding various political positions in the entire district will be brought forward and their photographs will be hung on the walls. After this, he challenged the party and said, “Expel me from the party. I want to leave. Then I will tell you what kind of politics is going on in the district.”
He also alleged that the government played a role in the arrest of another Trinamool Congress MLA Jeevan Krishna Saha by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the cash for school jobs scam.
“I have information and I will share it at the right time. I will tell you at the right time how this district president influenced Saha’s father Vishwanath Saha and got Jeevan Krishna Saha arrested.”
It is noteworthy that he has also raised his voice against Trinamool Congress MP from Baharampur, Yusuf Pathan.
Earlier, Kabir had been censured several times by the Trinamool Congress leadership and even given a show cause notice for making public statements that had caused embarrassment to the party. However, despite the rebuke, Kabir repeated his actions and statements.
