In today’s digital world, where social media has become an integral part of our lives, sometimes people look forward to hitting the reset button. There could be a variety of reasons behind this decision, such as taking a break from constant notifications or focusing on studying. Additionally, sometimes people get bored of one messaging app and want to switch to another.

WhatsApp is one such popular messaging app that is widely used by people around the world. It helps us stay connected with family and friends. Sending images, videos, audios or documents on WhatsApp is easy.

If you are tired of WhatsApp and want to delete it from your smartphone, make sure to deactivate your account before deleting it from your device. If you don’t do this, your account will remain active and your contacts will be able to send you messages, but you won’t receive any text messages from them.

You can delete your WhatsApp account by following a few simple steps. However, you must note that deleting a WhatsApp account is an “irreversible process.”

“You can delete your account from WhatsApp. Deleting your account is an irreversible process and even if you do it accidentally, we cannot recover it,” WhatsApp said.

Here are the quick steps to delete your WhatsApp account:

For Android devices:

Step 1. Launch the WhatsApp application on your Android device.

Step 2. Click on the three dots in the upper right corner (more options).

Step 3. Select “Settings” and then scroll down and select the “Account” option.

Step 4. Click “Delete My Account” and enter your phone number in full international format.

Step 5. Select the reason why you wish to delete your account from the drop-down menu.

Step 6. Click “Delete My Account”.

For iOS devices:

Step 1. Open WhatsApp on your iOS device

Step 2. Go to the “Settings” option and select “Delete my account” in the “Account” section.

Step 3. Provide your phone number in full international format and click “Delete My Account”.

What happens after you delete your WhatsApp account?

Deleting your account will clear your message history and remove you from all WhatsApp groups. It will also delete your Google Drive backup and remove you as a channel admin or follower, but your updates will still be visible to your followers.

WhatsApp further states that it may take up to 30 days from the start of the process to delete your messages from the app.
