Comedians Kapil Sharma and Sunil Grover are finally reuniting for a Netflix project The Great Indian Kapil Show. Sunil Grover has also appeared in Kapil Sharma’s show before. Comedy Nights With Kapil And The Kapil Sharma Show. However, Sunil Grover left the show after the alleged incident where Kapil Sharma allegedly misbehaved with him during a flight from Melbourne in 2017. Since then, the two have not worked together. On Tuesday, Kapil Sharma and Sunil Grover were together at Netflix’s event “Next on Netflix: The Next Level of Blockbuster Entertainment”.
Here’s a recap of the journey between Kapil Sharma and Sunil Grover from feud to reconciliation:
1. Fight in flight and Sunil’s exit from the show.
In March 2017, during a flight back to India from Melbourne, Australia, Kapil Sharma allegedly misbehaved with Sunil Grover. After this incident, Sunil decided not to return The Kapil Sharma Show. Following this, other co-stars like Ali Asgar and Chandan Prabhakar also left the show. However, Chandan later decided to return to the show after a few weeks.
In a 2017 interview Bollywood Hungama, Kapil Sharma spoke openly about the flight incident. He said, “I recognize there was a problem. And I have paid dearly for it. But what was reported was grossly exaggerated and almost completely fabricated. It was said that I had asked That I be served food first.” Udaan and I got angry and threw a shoe at Sunil. All these stories of shoe throwing and tantrums were started in a part of digital media.
2. Kapil Sharma’s apology
Kapil Sharma had publicly apologized on X (formerly known as Twitter) after Sunil Grover stopped appearing on the show. The star wrote, “Paaji Sunil Grover, I am sorry if I have hurt you unknowingly. You know very well how much I love you. I am also worried. Love and respect always :)”

After this Kapil also posted a detailed note on Facebook. He wrote, “Hi.. good morning friends.. was having my best time and suddenly I heard the news of fight between me and Sunil paaji.. first of all let’s see where it is coming from.. what are the intentions behind it. Yes.. If I had a fight with him in the flight then who saw and told you.. Is he trustworthy..? Some people enjoy things like this.. We eat together.. We travel together… I meet my brother once a year.. and spend almost every day with my team .. Specially Sunil.. I love him.. I respect him.. Yes I had an argument with him. But aren’t we normal people..? I yelled at him for the first time in 5 years..itna toh chalta hai brother. We will sit and talk about where the problem is.. I love him as an artiste, as a human being.. He is like my elder brother.. Why so much negativity all the time.. I respect my media. I do… there are other serious issues that need our attention. Is the issue of mine and Sunil so important and related to the security of my country..? We spend a lot of time together instead of with our families.. and sometimes this happens in the family.. this is our family matter.. we will sort it out.. don’t forget too much.”
3. Sunil Grover’s reply to Kapil Sharma’s apology
Responding to Kapil Sharma’s apology, Sunil Grover shared a note on X. He said, “Brother! Yes, you hurt me a lot. Working with you has been a learning experience. The only advice is that apart from animals, start respecting humans also. Not everyone is as successful as you. Not everyone is as talented as you. But if they all are as talented as you then who will respect you? So, show some gratitude towards their existence. And also, if someone is correcting you, do not abuse him.
“Avoid using foul language in front of women who have nothing to do with your stardom, they are coincidentally just traveling with you. Thank you for making me realize that this was your show and that you had the power to eliminate anyone, anytime. You are the most intelligent and the best in your field. But don’t behave like ‘God’. 4. Kapil Sharma wished Sunil Grover on his birthday
In August 2017, on Sunil Grover’s 40th birthday, Kapil Sharma posted a note on X (then Twitter). The message read, “Wishing you a very happy birthday Sunil Grover paaji… May God give you all the happiness in this world. Lots of love always :).”

5. Kapil Sharma’s statement on how he “didn’t fight at all” with Sunil Grover.
In October 2017, at the trailer launch of Firangi, Kapil Sharma clarified that he never actually fought with Sunil Grover. He said, “When you run such a big team, you have to manage a lot of things and I’m really bad at it, that’s all I have to say. Touchwood, we’ve been working together for many years and I would like to repeat this one more time, actually I did not have any fight with Sunil Grover. It did not happen.”
Kapil told that he had an argument with Chandan Prabhakar. He elaborated, “When we reached Australia, I was in a really bad mood right from the first day. I was doing a lot of things, I was shooting shows and other things. During the same time, the cast of my film Died. I was very nervous and became so negative. I wanted to cancel the Australia show but couldn’t and before the show, a girl came to me complaining about a boy who is my childhood friend Chandan . I scolded him. I had to perform for an hour and a half and that girl and the boy artiste had 10 minutes. My whole thing was, ‘When I have such a long performance you are bothering me with it. Are.’ I’m a bit impulsive. Chandan went missing for five days. I wanted to meet him and apologize because I didn’t hear his side of the story. I saw him an hour before the flight to Australia and I forgot again And I used abusive words again.
6.Sunil Grover on not receiving call from Kapil Sharma
In March 2018, Sunil Grover shared a note on X (then Twitter) stating that he had not received any call from Kapil Sharma for his show. He mentioned, “Brother, many other people have also asked me the same thing like you. But no one called me for this show. My phone number is also the same. After waiting, I came and signed it. I am associated with a good project thanks to you guys. Come soon in front of you. [Brother, a few others have asked me the same question. But I didn’t receive any call for this show. My phone number is the same. After waiting, I have signed on for something else yesterday. With your blessings, I am associated with a good project. I will come in front of you soon.],

7. Meet again at a wedding
In March 2020, Kapil Sharma and Sunil Grover were seen together at a wedding ceremony. Kapil posted a glimpse of the event in which the two are seen sharing the stage with singer Mika Singh. In his tweet, Kapil wrote, “It was a very special and beautiful evening paaji. Thanks for all the love and warmth. God bless this beautiful couple and congratulations to the entire Kumariya family and friends.”

8. Sunil Grover’s birthday message for Kapil Sharma
In April 2020, Sunil Grover posted a birthday wish for Kapil Sharma. The comedian wrote, “Happy Birthday Pah ji. I wish you a long and happy life. Keep giving the world a medicine called laughter.”

9. Kapil Sharma spoke on Sunil Grover’s surgery
In February 2022, Sunil Grover underwent bypass surgery, which left Kapil Sharma deeply shocked and worried. in an interview with e timesKapil said, “I was completely shocked and I am extremely worried about Sunil’s health. I sent him a message but apparently he got discharged yesterday itself, so I can’t expect a message back from him.” .He had to undergo heart surgery.” He underwent surgery at a very young age, but he will recover soon. In December 2023, Netflix India announced the on-screen reunion of Kapil Sharma and Sunil Grover.
