Three families shot dead in Uttar Pradesh over land dispute

Three members of a family, including a teenage boy, were shot dead by relatives Friday over a property dispute, police said.

They said two persons were injured in the incident in Malihabad police station area.

The family of Farheen Khan (40) is embroiled in a land dispute with close relatives.

Superintendent of Police SB Shiradkar told reporters that an argument ensued when her family members called a “lekhpal” to measure the disputed land when they arrived there in an SUV.

During the argument, shots were fired, injuring five people, including Khan, her son Hanjala (17), his uncle Munir Ahmed (50) and two others.

They were taken to hospital, where doctors declared Khan, her son and Ahmed dead, he said.

“We have recovered the registered rifle used in the incident. Efforts are on to arrest the accused,” he added.

Siradkar said an FIR has been registered against four people involved in the case, including the main accused Siraj Ahmed of Marihabad police station.
