Last year, India defeated Indonesia 3-0 in the final to win the Thomas Cup for the first time. The event started in 1949.
The Thomas Cup is the premier world championship for men’s badminton.

India’s best results in the Uber Cup were bronze medals in the competitions held in New Delhi and Kunshan in 2014 and 2016 respectively.
