Minister of Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sekeena Itu, today chaired a meeting at the Civil Secretariat to review Healthcare Infrastructure and other facilities across Bermula district.
MLA Baramulla, Javid Hassan Beigh; MD NHM; Director Health Service Kashmir; Director Finance, Health and Medical Education Department; Director coordination new GMCs; Principal GMC Baramullah; Apart from CMO and BMO Baramulla, other concerned officials attended the meeting.
The minister emphasized the important importance of strengthening the healthcare delivery system at the grassroots level. He said that the health sector is an important field for social development and good, so there is no place for any agreement.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, the government is ensuring the major focus on the development of the health sector, Saika Itu said that the price of an MRI (3 Tesla) is Rs. 25 crores and Cath Lab priced Rs. 12.50 crores will be established in GMC Baramulla during the current financial year. He said that these facilities will bring revolution in the healthcare outreach in North Kashmir district and its nearby areas.
He said that about 50 kanals have been transferred to GMC for the installation of separate OPD blocks and diagnostic blocks, morchary, which will improve the quality of healthcare in this prestigious health facility of North Kashmir.
The minister said that apart from AI based X-ray machines and other facilities, dialysis facilities in SDHS and CHCS will also be installed in various hospitals and centers of Baramulla.
During the meeting, Minister Sekena also directed the officials to set up a digital X-ray facility at GMC Baramulla. He also asked them to provide 104 ambulance vehicles to the institute.
Expressing concern at some intervals, Salina Itu called for immediate prevention of issues obstructing effective healthcare distribution. “Health is a fundamental right and is the top priority of the present government. There is no scope for decency or compromise in this important field,” he said.
The minister urged the officials to accelerate pending upgrades, ensure proper staffing and maintain transparency in resource use.
Reviewing other aspects related to the healthcare sector, the minister directed the Principal GMC and other officials that the development fund of the hospital should also be used to upgrade basic facilities in hospitals. He also directed the hospital administration and other district officials of the Health Department that any issue related to non-functioning of medical equipment in health facilities should be raised along with the concerned quarters for speedy improvement.
During the meeting, Associate Professor, GMC Baramulla, Dr. Shumel Bashir made a detailed presentation on various aspects of the functioning of the hospital.
