Ten years later, Alphonse Puthren’s Premam (2015) was released, following the development of Nivin Pauly’s George David and exploring similar issues. of first love, college romance, and heartbreak. In an interview, Cheran recalled that many people suggested that he file a lawsuit against Puthren because of the similarities between Autograph and Premam.

“Many directors and media personalities have approached me, pointing out the striking similarities between Premam and Autograph, suggesting that Alphonse Puslen would adapt my story into his film. Considering the success of Premam, they I was even encouraged to assert my rights. Apart from the core plot, there are several other similarities between the two films.
