There’s nothing left to allow community members to design special edition Phone 2a

There has been no recent sign of “industry first” initiatives. The company has now unveiled plans for a “Community Edition Project,” inviting people from around the world to submit their ideas for a new version of the recently launched Nothing Phone 2a. It’s said to be a co-creation of “the community” and the Nothing Team. Nothing founder and CEO Carl Pei confirmed that this could be the first step in getting the “community” involved to co-develop new products or even future operating systems. The Phone 2a was launched on March 5, and users recently started receiving the Nothing OS 2.5.4 update.

The company further detail The Community Edition project will last over six months and involve four phases. Hardware design submissions will take place in March, followed by wallpaper designs in May, packaging designs in June, and marketing campaign ideas in July.

There is no evidence that these ideas can be presented through any medium of the participant’s choice – “images, videos and/or other supporting media that best illustrates the idea” and can be uploaded using the Community Edition project Web page. After the submission period for each phase ends, voting will begin on selected ideas, and voting will be open to everyone. All valid submissions will ultimately be judged by an “internal, non-judged panel” to select the winner for each stage.

Nothing Phone 2a was launched in India priced at Rs. The 8GB + 128GB variant is priced at Rs 23,999, while the 8GB + 256GB and 12GB + 256GB configurations are priced at Rs. 25,999 and Rs.27,999 respectively. The phone is available in black and white colors and comes with MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro SoC and a 5,000mAh battery with 45W wired fast charging support. It features a 6.7-inch 120Hz Full HD+ AMOLED display, dual 50MP rear cameras, and a 32MP selfie camera.
