New Delhi, 22 August: Opposition Lok Sabha leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday welcomed the recent decision of the Supreme Court related to stray dogs in Delhi NCR and called it “a step towards balanced animal welfare”.
Rahul Gandhi’s ‘X’ post said, “I welcome the revised directions on stray dogs of the Supreme Court, as it is a progressive step towards balanced animal welfare and public safety. The approach is both kind and lies in scientific logic,” Rahul Gandhi’s ‘X’ post said.
Earlier, Delhi Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh on Friday welcomed the revised decision of the Supreme Court on stray dogs in the NCR region, saying that this is a very good decision.
He said that he had implemented the order of the Supreme Court, given that dog lovers had requested the dogs to be fruitless and then left. Raja Iqbal Singh said that aggressive dogs should be kept and treated.
“We welcome the decision. This is a very good decision, and we will apply it 100%. Dog lover and NGOs also wanted dogs to be sterilized and left. The corporation already did the same. Cruel and aggressive dogs have developed and kept bite habit and should be kept. The public should not face any problem.

The Supreme Court on Friday amended its first August 11 order on Stre and ordered his release after sterilization and vaccination. SC, Supreme Court, Stray Dog, Order, Amendment. The Supreme Court clarified that rabies -infected stray dogs or aggressive behavior would not be released back and will be kept separately.

The court ordered that no public food of dogs would be allowed, and dedicated feeding places for stray dogs would be made. This ordered MCD (Municipal Corporation of Delhi) to create a feeding area in municipal wards.
The court said that animals may transfer the application to the MCD for adoption of dogs.
The court expanded the scope of its proceedings on the threat of stray dogs and issued notices to the secretaries of the cattle rearers of all states and center areas and sought their response to the national policy to deal with the problem.
This directed its registry to get information from all the High Courts, where petitions on the issue of stray dogs and orders are pending that all such cases will be transferred to the apex court. (AI)
