The US said in its own way, “Greenland doesn’t want to be a part of Denmark”

As Greenland and Denmark, of which it is a part, has accepted Donald Trump’s “strategic purchase” proposal, Washington has returned, trying to penetrate in its own way. In a befitting reply for Denmark Prime Minister Met Fredericseen, US Secretary Marco Rubio said Greenland should no longer become a part.

“Denmark should focus on the fact that Greenlanders no longer want to be a part of the country. Greenlanders are going to make a decision,” Mr. Rubio said at the NATO headquarters in Brussels.

Greenland’s upcoming Prime Minister Jens-Frederick Nielsen immediately dismissed the statement saying that Mr. Rubio is wrong to say so. “He is not right that Greenland wants to separate tomorrow,” he said. However, he admitted that Greenland wanted to achieve independence in a long time.

He said, “Greenland does not want to be a Danish, but Greenland definitely does not want to be American,” he said, defending his country.

Talking to the local TV network TV2, Mr. Nielsen said, “We work to build a foundation every day so that we can stand on our own in future, but we are not there yet. What we say does not hold water.”

The United States has made the acquisition of Greenland a highest priority and a strategic foreign policy goal – for which it has not rejected even a military aggressive. When Donald Trump first suggested that he wants the US to “buy” Greenland, it was taken as a joke, but in weeks and months the world understood that there is no humor in it.

Denmark, whose semi-late area Greenland does not have diplomatic or military, has come to the rescue, to stand in the US. But they are also feeling pressure. Danish PM Mette Frederricasen today accused the US of subjugating Denmark and Greenland under “pressure and threats”.

He rejected efforts to enacted Greenland, citing international law.

“You cannot do other countries – not even on the pretext of international security,” Prime Minister Fredericseen said at a press conference with top Greenlandic officials in Greenland’s capital Nuuk. “National boundaries, sovereignty, regional integrity – these are inherent in international law. These principles were established after World War II so that small countries would not be afraid of big people.”

“When you want to take part of the area of the state (Denmark), when we are subject to pressure and threats by our nearest colleague, what do we think about the country we have praised for so many years?” Prime Minister Frederricasen questioned.

Both Denmark and Greenland, for a long time, have been close to the United States. There is also a strategic military and nuclear missile base in Greenland in the US. But President Trump threatened to anxize the Arctic island rich in natural and mineral resources, creating a widely anti -American spirit and resentment against the Trump administration.

Last month, Greenlanders staged the biggest protest against the US in the history of the island. Last month, a few hours before the visit of US Vice President JD Vance, Greenland announced the formation of a new autonomous government. Four political parties representing 23 out of 31 seats in Greenland’s Parliament signed a historic coalition agreement to establish a new government. Jens-Frederick Nielsen will serve as Prime Minister, President of Democratitite (Democratic Party).
