The UK jury found the man who dreamed of being a James Bond to try to spy for Russia

London (AP) – A British man, who dreams of being like James Bond, was convicted on Tuesday for attempting to spy for Russia.

The 65 -year -old Howard Philips demanded to pass information about former Defense Secretary Grant Shap, who believed two men that they were Russian agents. However, the agents were undercover to British intelligence agents.

In the Winchester Crown Court, a jury found Philips guilty of assisting what she considered as a foreign intelligence agency. The unanimous decision came after four hours of ideology.

He was sent to custody and will be sentenced in a fall. No exact date was set.

The prosecutors said that the Philips offered to start the place along with the contact details of the curse, where they put their private aircraft “to facilitate the Russians in hearing on British defense plans”.

The defendant’s ex -wife told the court that Philips would “dream about being like James Bond,” and saw films about British secret services because he was “infected with it.”

Bethan David, head of the Anti -Terrorism Division of the Crown Prosiction Service, said the punishment sends a clear message to anyone considering spying for Russia.

“Philips were unbalanced to pursue their own for financial advantage, and a potential barrier to their own country,” said David.
