The main event of WrestleMania 40 ended with Cody Rhodes defeating Roman Reigns to capture the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. It was a match full of interference, with The Rock, Zoroasco, and Jimmy Uso trying to help Roman Reigns survive, but the surprise appearances of Seth Rollins, The Undertaker, and John Cena meant that Reigns De was finally able to complete his first match winning the “Story” ever WWE World Champion. The Rock appeared on the latest episode of WWE Raw, and the WWE legend dropped a big hint about a match with Rhodes in the near future.

The Rock reluctantly congratulated Rhodes on his victory and said his late father, WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes, had a “big smile” on his face at the end of the WrestleMania 40 match. He also presented Rhodes with a Hall of Fame ceremony attended by Muhammad Ali’s widow.

The Rock told Rhodes he “had to go away for a while” but promised he would be back in a few months and that while the fight with Roman was over, he would be the next to face Rhodes. He also reminded Roode that he defeated him on night one of WrestleMania.

On Saturday, Roman Reigns and The Rock teamed up to face Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins in a tag team match that ended with The Bloodline Win an exciting match.

Multiple reports claim The Rock is working on his next Hollywood project – Smash Machine – which is expected to begin filming in April. With the schedule likely to end around August, The Rock could have a huge showdown with Cody Rhodes at WWE Summerslam 2024.

Earlier, The Rock’s performance in the ring earned him high praise from former WWE Champion CM Punk.

“I think he looks great. As someone who wrestled him ten years ago, the same question is talked about a lot. Everyone wants to know what he’s going to look like, what his wind is going to be like. There’s a huge difference though. A tag team match or Championship Wrestling back, I thought he did a great job tonight. I thought he looked really good. He won the match, what the hell can I say?” Punk said.
