Two inmates accused of violent crimes, including attempted second-degree murder, are on the run after escaping from Southwest louisiana Jail on Wednesday by removing pieces of a deteriorating wall and using sheets to cover the wall, officials said. one third prisoner Whoever participated in the breakout committed suicide after it was discovered.

The prisoners then used “sheets and other objects” to climb over the exterior wall and “fall” onto the first-floor roof before “throwing themselves to the ground,” Guidroz said in a press release.
Additional details about the escape were not immediately available. Guidroz said there would be an internal investigation.
Sheriff’s Department spokesman Major Mark LeBlanc was not aware of similar break-ins into the building in the past, but said anyone would try to escape given enough time and opportunity.
“These three were a little more creative than in previous years,” he said.
There is no reliable indication that the escapees have left the parish, so LeBlanc warned residents to secure their homes and vehicles.
“He is charged with a violent felony and we know he is desperate to get away,” he said.
“Action will be taken against anyone who helps those who escape,” he said.
