The Israeli government allows the Gaza to return to the border communities, no security risk

Israeli residents of Gaza border communities will be allowed to return to their homes as the Israeli government on Sunday announced that there was no “security barrier” to stay in the area.

The decision follows the assessment of the Israel defense forces and the Ministry of Defense on Sunday, approved by the cabinet in a telephone referendum. As a result, the funds for those living in temporary absorption facilities will be stopped for people capable of returning.

This decision applies to twelve areas, including Berry, Kefeer Aza, Neer Oz, Sufa, Nativ Hasara, Neer Yitzak, Kerem Shalom, Ene Hashlosh, Neerim, Nahal Oz, Kisfim and Holit.

Other communities such as Nahl Oz, Kissfim, Holit, Kefeer Aza, and B.R. will continue to rely on temporary housing until the reconstruction is completed.

The Tekuma administration responsible for the reconstruction of damaged areas during the October 7 attacks confirmed that renovation work in Kerem Shalom, Rem, Neerim, and Ein Hashloha has ended, allowing residents to start from July 1. Sufa, Neer Yitzak, and Native Hasara will also meet again at this time. The restoration of Nahal Oz is expected by August, just in time for the new school year, while the reconstruction of which will end in November 2025.

Holit, Kefeer Aja, and BARI are estimated to be ready for some time in 2026.

The families’ headquarters commented on the move to return the kidnappers, saying, “If there is no safety barrier to return to stay in the envelope, there is definitely no obstacle to end the fight in Gaza. Now all that is all that is to reach a comprehensive agreement to return to all 50 kidnappers.”

While the military ban has been lifted, the government confirmed that support would continue for those who are not yet ready to return. The state will rent 90 percent for the residents who prefer to live in temporary housing during ongoing repairs.

At least 1,180 people were killed, and 252 Israel and foreigners were held hostage on the Israeli communities near the Gaza border on 7 October. Of the remaining 50 hostages, around 30, around 30 is considered dead. (ANI/TPS)
