Wicker Rasool Wani, a member of the Congress Working Committee, made a comprehensive tour of the border areas in the Tanjar region, which was recently severely affected by cross -border firing, expressing solidarity with the displaced families and called for government intervention.
During his two -day visit in the volatile Line of Control (LOC) regions, Wani visited the affected areas of Haziner, Tangdhar, Gomal, Batpora, Turbuni and Bag Bella, where he interacted with families whose life has been interrupted by an increased stress.
“The plight of these border residents demands immediate attention,” Wani said while addressing the affected families. “It is disappointing that despite repeated incidents, no comprehensive rehabilitation policy has been prepared to address their concerns.”
The Congress leader strongly advocated for the creation and implementation of a comprehensive rehabilitation policy for the affected population. He emphasized that such a policy should include adequate compensation, secure housing away from weak areas, and included permanent livelihood opportunities for people displaced by across the border.
Wani emphasized the immediate requirement of both the Central and State Governments to implement rehabilitation measures on the basis of war. His visit took place just a day after visiting the same affected areas in the URI sector, which shows the continuous commitment of the party for the Seema residents.
“These families have tolerated adequate grief. A strong rehabilitation policy is not just a requirement, but their fundamental right,” Wani insisted while meeting with local residents.
Wani assured the affected families that he would raise his concerns with the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, and the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha along with Congress President Mallikrajun Kharge.
“These families deserve security, dignity and a clear path. I will personally make sure that their voices reach the highest areas of our party leadership,” Wani said.
Congress leaders concluded with a warm welcome by party employees in Handwara, where they reiterated the party’s commitment to advocate the conservation of citizens living near the line of development and control of the wide border area.
