A heartbreaking tragedy hit the Harwani area of Khanshb in Budgam district of Central Kashmir on Thursday, when two minor siblings fell into a deep, open tubewell, resulting in a 6-year-old boy, while his 5-year-old sister lives in a serious condition.
The deceased has been identified as Basit Ahmed Khan and his sister is injured as Zainab, the children of Harwani’s residents Mohammad Afroz Khan.
According to KS, brother -in -law was playing near the tubewell when a tragic accident took place.
Tubewells allegedly became a death network for innocent children without any security cover or fencing. Both were taken out in an unconscious state and taken by their family members to the sub-district hospital at Khansahab.
However, Basit was declared dead by doctors. Zainab, who faced serious injuries, was immediately sent to SMHS Hospital in Srinagar for advanced medical treatment.
The police have taken cognizance of the incident and started an investigation to find out the responsibility. (KNS)
