Telangana teen commits suicide after being told to miss exam due to poor attendance

Hyderabad:

A student of the state-run Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge and Technology (RGUKT) in Basal, Telangana, allegedly committed suicide in his hostel room, police said on Tuesday.

The 17-year-old, a pre-university course (PUC) student at the college, spent midnight on Monday with friends and the incident came to light this morning. They said he ended his life by hanging.

The victim’s attendance was less than 45 per cent and his parents were told on Monday he should sit exams next year.

Police added that many people were not meeting the required attendance.
