The explosion at Sigachi Pharma Industries in Sangredi district of Telangana increased to 34, the authorities confirmed on Tuesday as the rescue operations at the site of the blast continued.

Kishan Reddy told reporters, “NDRF, police and other agencies are engaged in relief operation … every 2 lakh rupees will be given to the families of the deceased persons and Rs 50,000 will be given to the injured.”
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also expressed grief over the blast. Amit Shah said in a post on X, “Sadly saddened by an accident in a chemical factory in Telangana, Telangana. The NDRF team immediately reached the spot and is continuing rescue operations with the local administration.”
Shah said, “My heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones. Praying for the fast recovery of the injured,” Shah said.
On Monday, the Director General of Telangana state disaster response and fire services, Y Negi Reddy said that rescue officers were uncertain about the number of people trapped under the rubble.
He said, according to industrial experts, the explosion occurred during the drying of air handling and microcystline cellulose.
“Today, around 9.48 pm, an explosion occurred in the drying unit in the Sigachi Pharma Company. A fire broke out in the explosion. A total of 12 people were killed and 35 were injured in the incident.”
He said, “According to industrial experts, the incident occurred during the drying of air handling/microcystline cellulose. We are currently uncertain about the number of people under debris,” he said.
