In a horrific incident of honor killing in Tamil Nadu’s Madurai district, a 22-year-old man killed his sister, beheaded her lover and put the severed head on public display.
The incident took place in Kudakoil near Thirumangalam on Tuesday night.
Accused Praveen Kumar, 22, had frequent disputes over his relationship with his sister Mahalakshmi, 25, and local Sathish Kumar, 28.
According to police, the sister got married to a man in Vaniyankulam, Madurai, but her relationship with her husband did not last long and she lived with her mother and brother Praveen.
Later, Mahalakshmi fell in love with Sathish Kumar, a local of a different caste. Her brother was completely against their relationship and warned the two not to continue it.
On Tuesday night, Praveen ambushed Satish Kumar and hacked him multiple times, leading to his death. His head was beheaded and placed on public display in a public place.
After returning home, he hacked his sister to death. When his mother tried to protect his sister, he also attacked her and chopped off her right wrist.
The bodies of Mahalakshmi and Sathish Kumar were later sent to GRH Hospital in Madurai for post-mortem examination.
