Sycamore Gap Latest: ‘Moronic’ wandals are sentenced after cutting the tree

The sentence will be heard in the Newcastle Crown Court, both defendants Daniel Graham and Adam Karuthers expected the dock.

Both were found guilty in two cases of criminal damage-for a multi-photograph tree and a headrian wall, which was damaged when the sycamore fell on it.

The maximum punishment for criminal damage is 10 years and growing factors include whether this was done to evidence of a heritage or widespread impact on the cultural property and community.

Many people will recall after the trial, an important point was a video presented by the prosecution of the video discovered in Daniel Graham’s mobile phone.

When extended, the prosecution suggested that it showed the flying of the sycamore gap tree.

Daniel Graham, 39, and 32-year-old Adam Karutors, each was found guilty in two cases of criminal damage-for a multi-photograph tree and a headrian wall, which was damaged when the sycamore fell on it.

There was no response in the dock as the jury returned after just five hours to convict them.

During the trial in Newcastle Crown Court, both men denied any participation in the chopping of the Seomore Gap Tree.

Graham accused the Karutors of taking his car and phone to a seamor gap without his knowledge, saying that he had now turned on his former friend as his business was being affected by the works of the Karutars.

Graham claimed during his evidence that Karutors had an attraction with sycamore, stated that he had described it as “the most famous tree in the world” and talked about the desire to cut it, even keeping a piece of string in his workshop, which he used to measure the periphery.

The Karutars denied this and told the court that he could not understand the story’s displeasure, saying that it was just a tree.

Daniel Graham and Adam Karutors brought to Northperland Landmark in Cumbria from their homes through a storm for 40 minutes in the middle of the night, where one of them cut the sycamore and the other shot it.
