Paris:
Three people were injured in a knife attack at Gare de Lyon in Paris’ main tourist hub on Saturday, police said, adding that the suspect had been arrested.
The detained man, whose nationality was not disclosed, carried out the stabbing at around 8:00am (0700GMT) at the station, which serves domestic trains as well as trains to Switzerland and Italy.
One person was seriously injured and two others suffered minor injuries, police said.
“The suspect did not shout (any religious slogans) during the attack,” a police source said. “He showed the police an Italian driving license.”
Rail operator SNCF said on X (formerly Twitter) that the area between Hall 1 and Hall 3 was temporarily inaccessible.
