Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Thursday announced a financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh each to the relatives of three security personnel who were killed in clashes with Naxalite in the state’s Sukma district on January 30. .
A state official said this assistance will be provided in addition to the ex-gratia offered by the state and central governments to the families of fallen soldiers.
Sai announced in an interview with reporters on the sidelines of a program in South Korea that financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh will be provided to each of the families of the three deceased.
Three Central Reserve Police Force personnel, including two belonging to its special jungle warfare unit CoBRA (Commandos for Resolute Action), were killed in a fierce gunbattle with Naxalites near Tekalgudem village in Sukma district on Tuesday. personnel.
The encounter occurred when security personnel were disinfecting the area after setting up a new camp at Tekal Gudem, a Naxal stronghold on the border in Sukma-Bijapur district.
According to a CoBRA commando who was injured in the attack, the Naxalites number around 300 to 400, including women cadres. He said that during the fighting that lasted for more than four hours, at least 15 to 20 Naxalites were shot and fell to the ground, but their colleagues took them deep into the forest.
